Screen Enclosures: Are They Worth It?

Screen Enclosures: Are They Worth It?

Less debris, fewer mosquitoes, more shade — screen enclosures change how you use your pool. We break down cost, maintenance, and design impact.

A screen enclosure is the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade you can add to a Florida pool. It keeps leaves, palm fronds, tree pollen, frogs, and mosquitoes out of the water. It cuts UV exposure by roughly a third, which extends the life of your interior finish and outdoor furniture. And it lets you enjoy the pool at dusk without becoming dinner.

The tradeoffs are real: enclosures typically add $18,000–$45,000 depending on size and roof style (mansard, gable, or dome), they need occasional rescreening every 10–15 years, and they change the sight lines from your house. Some homeowners prefer a fully open pool for the view.

Our take: if you have mature trees within 30 feet, kids under 10, or plan to swim at night, the enclosure pays for itself in reduced skimming, healthier water, and hours of extra pool time. We can show you a 3D model with and without the cage before you decide.
